Lau's Family Kitchen
Lau's Family Kitchen is not your usual Chinese restaurant. It has only a small range of simple dishes on the menu such as sweet and sour pork and Singapore noddles. At Lau's the focus is on quality over quantity, and the wait staff are knowledgeable and professional. Bookings are advisable.
ou know it’s going to be good as it’s run by the Lau family who gave us the iconic Flower Drum to brag about. Duck, duck, duck! If patience is your virtue then you are sure to get a table – one day.

If you love Cantonese food you will love the Lau's family kitchen. There are heaps of interesting fusion-style dishes and everything is cooked from fresh authentic ingredients. It's a cosy environment, so not the best place for a large group or deeply intimate discussions. Service is great, unobtrusive but prompt and effective. It's a real treat.
We wanted to book a table for 12 but the maximum they could fit was 8, so after shaving off some of our guests we turned up on time for our booking and had to wait an extra 15 mins to be seated. Tiny little restaurant you could barely walk around in, then we looked at the menu. $41 for some garlic prawns, $20 for fried rice? We had 4 teenage boys with us, this was going to cost us an arm and a leg and there were not many things on the menu that the young ones would eat so unfortunately we didn't stay. I can't review on the food but I can say the waiters were kind so no issues there, we just could not fathom paying that much for a meal with that many of us dining.
