What a cool place this was to stay. When we arrived to our three bedroom apartment, we were amazed to see that this place has an old Convict Theme Park built directly behind it. We had no idea of this when we book and it came as a surprise to all of us. If we had known this, we would have stayed for two nights, not just one.
The apartment was very clean and one of the best places we had stayed in during our trip across TAS from NSW. Distinct design, like a step back in time. Beautiful style of white painted stones, moss and creeper draped over the historic water wheel, quaint view spots and lots of cosy nooks to see out to the Tamar River and plan your Launceston stay. Inside individually named rooms, more white stone of rough texture giving the rooms depth, dark stained wooden exposed beams, thick warm carpet and dark stained desk, chair and cabinet furniture. Modern bathrooms with daily fresh white towels and iconic moulded metal window and door fixtures/handles on heavy dark wooden window frames and doors. Lovely view of large white windmill that could have passed for a Dutch or Moulin Rouge style centrepiece, available free parking, brilliant large fragile maple leaves that scatter the red brick entrance and courtyard that can be found abounds in nearby Kings and City Park to run through and enjoy regardless of age. Only a few minutes walk from popular Charles street and CBD ...read more
Quaint buildings, old army barracks, every suite named after an officer. Reasonable prices, 2 bedroom suites on 2 levels, 2nd bedroom small and attic like, but the kids loved it. LOts of stairs, wont suit disabled. Lots of pine lining. Full kitchen. Can stroll to riverside parks, or into town. However, lots of road noise from nearby freeway, no good if you're not used to noise.
