I had lunch with a couple of clients today and was abused in a very loud and disgusting way by one of the elderly staff (an older man) in front of these clients & other customers...
He tripped over my folder which had mistakenly/accidentally fallen over as there was no room on our table for it, My business partner and the female client also had their bags/folders on the floor next to their chairs. His response was appalling!
Read other review websites, This is not the first time he has abused a customer.
The Lemongrass Thai Restaurant is beautifully decorated and you feel like you are in a Thai restaurant when you walk in. There is an extensive food menu to choose from, and also a nice wine menu. I tried the Money Bags and the Thai Fish cakes. The fish cakes were beautiful and served with a tasty dipping sauce, the money bags were a let down – not the best. The mains were delicious! Good service, lovely food, nice atmosphere.
Our family of 4 went on a Monday evening. Ordered Chicken with cashew and the dish arrived without a single cashew nut. When we told the wait staff they offered to sprinkle some cashew nuts on the dish which we refused. Pad Thai was soggy and overcooked. Money bags were so oily. They haven't bothered to drain the excess oil. The wait staff was very rude. The prices are too high and the portions so tiny. Total disaster!
Dont bother. I know others have given this place rave reviews, however the food was well below average on my first (and last) visit.
Fish cakes were talked up on the menu, so we thought we would give them a try. Big mistake. They were gelatinous, oily, lacked flavour and were just unpleasant. So much so that we just could not bring ourselves to eat them, and actually sent them back (something I rarely do).
Pad Med Mamuang was bland, lacking any depth of flavour. Rice was congealed and gluggy. Beers were overpriced. Staff were pleasant enough, but with food like this, it is not enough. An overall disappointing experience and I will not be back. If you want yummy, authentic Thai food, go to Thai Spoon in Northcote instead.
The food at the Lemongrass Restaurant is some of the best I have ever had. The service sizes are well worth the price, and the staff are friendly. If it is busy, be prepared to wait a while for your food. It is a good idea to book a table here, especially if you are going in a group.
