I'd been keen to go for a while so when a wine tour to the Adelaide hills presented I was keen for a lunch stop here. After a half day of wining I was keen for some German beers and dining - but the menu was less than German! Where's the sausage? The sauerkraut? My seafood pie had loads of seafood and tasted fine but didn't really go with my beer paddle....
Certainly worth the 45min drive from Adelaide to experience the hospitality of the Lobethal bierhaus. Housed in the original Woollen Mills in the Main Street this micro brewery and restaurant reflect the fine traditions of the Lobethal district and its quality fresh local produce
Brewed on the premises are 5 distinctly different beers to taste. I particularly enjoy the Bohemian Philsner (that is the correct spelling) and the India Pale Ale but have tried them all and enjoy each one for their own distinctive flavour. The restaurant menu though not extensive accounts for all tastes. The meals are of a good size and certainly focus on fresh. Even the chips are made fresh on the premises. Wine is also available while dining. Pretty good spot all round!!
