It all began in 1987, in a shoe-box sized location in the lower level of the old Carlton Arcade. Over the years this popular hawker-style eatery has expanded and earned a reputation for its affordable and authentic Malaysian/ Chinese cuisine. Popular dishes include the laksa, har mee (prawn noodle soup) and Hainan chicken rice, just to name a few. Choose from the regular menu or try the daily special.
Come in early to avoid the lunchtime crowds. Opening hours are 11am to 7.30pm on weekdays, and 11am to 6pm on Saturday. Eat-in, take-away, B.Y.O.
I've heard so many great things about the laksa from this place and I finally had the chance to try it out! The queue during work lunch hours were ridiculous but they're fast service and people coming in and out didn't make it feel like much of a wait at all. There is no wonder it's so popular, the laksa is seriously incredible - the broth is the perfect balance of spicy and creamy without being too heavy.
Anytime you want to impress friends which an awesome lunch, come here. I suggest you get here before 11:45 because once it hits 12 it will be hard to get a seat!
The laksa is their most popular dish, I splurge and get king prawns, chicken and mixed noodles... Don't forget to add the homemade sambal!
Had lunch here with friends during my work lunch break. This place is way too popular and the line was out the door! I had a Prawn Laksa to takeaway - the price was surprisingly cheap and it was very tasty! I think they should invest in better takeaway containers, the current one is sort of awkward.
I was first introduced to this place about 9 years ago and it was love at first taste. I have made many other friends addicts too. BEST Malaysian food I have ever had. Line is ALWAYS out the door and you never wait more than 10 minutes. So efficient, never get an order wrong (well haven't for me). You can always tell if an Asian food place is good if there are plenty of Asians enjoying the cuisine and let me tell you they are. So is everyone else. I'm craving their Har Mee right now but anything you order is amazing!
