Mamma Teresa Pizza and Pasta
I'm not a big fan of pizza, but there is one pizza restaurant I go to regularly, and that is Mamma Teresa at Newport. Family run and with a family feel, it's quiet, dark, brown and pleasant. The music is neutral and unobtrusive, and the staff friendly in a relaxed casual way. Menu choices are between plain pizzas, gourmet wood-fired pizzas, some pastas and a few more expensive ($20-30) Italian dishes, but there's no need to go beyond a medium-sized classic pizza - thick, lots of topping and very delicious for just $10. Somehow this restaurant manages to be both classy and family friendly. The decor is elegant and reminiscent of coffee, the staff are pleasant and the service is good. What I loved best is that the magnificent pizza they serve here is inherently edible. There was no "stuffed full of greasy food" feeling after devouring half a pizza. The prices are excellent, and the coffee is lovely and strong. Furthermore Mamma Teresa is located mercifully close to Newport station. I would definitely return and wholeheartedly recommend Mamma Teresa to fans of amazingly good pizza.
