Mataranka Homestead Tourist Resort
Built in 1916, Mataranka Homestead, and its associated accommodation and facilities, are near the tranquil Rainbow Spring and picturesque Waterhouse River. Mataranka is a popular spot for activities such as fishing, swimming and canoeing, and walking - guided between April and November. Mataranka Homestead offers a wide range of facilities, and is a great base from which to explore the area.

We were thinking to stay at the "resort" but changed our minds on seeing the room! The resort is needing maintenance, renovation and better cleaning- either that or tearing down and starting again. The springs are magical and it's worth stopping here to swim in the springs; it's so refreshing on a hot day. This place is filled with local characters, which is great but the accomodation is on a par with a backpackers, and not even that. Be careful walking to the springs, there are snakes.
i am bitterley disappointed. The accommodation of the cabin was not up to a standard expected. There were cockroaches in the bathroom and daddy long legs everywhere. Cobwebs above the bathroom door were thick. The fridge/freezer has not been cleaned for god knows how long.
Although the pools are pretty they are very dangerous because the moss is growing on everything.
Very different to when i was here 20 years ago and i would not recommend this to anyone.
