In the past few months we've had:
1. laptop fan replacement
2. PC 'black screen' that I thought would need replacing, but just needed a huge cleanout of virus/malware (saved me buying a new computer!)

I've been using Mates Rates happily for the last 4 years or so. They've repaired systems, installed drives, and built entire computers for me. I can always rely on Tony and his team to deliver no-nonsense advice, great service at very reasonable prices. I'm a big fan and will keep taking my computers to them. Computer repaires are like mechanics - it's great to find one you know and can trust.
When my Asus notebook crashed I took it into Mates Rates at Albany Creek. After a cursory examination I was told the motherboard had failed and the computer was not repairable. I was then charged $66 to extract data from the hard drive. The notebook was still under an extended warranty so I sent it off to The Warranty Group, expecting a payout for the "unrepairable" machine. Instead, it took just three days for the notebook to be returned in perfect working order, with all the programs and data intact. At Mates Rates, I received very poor advice which could easily have cost me a lot more than the $66 I wasted.
