Matsumoto Japanese Restaurant

I stumbled upon this place while looking for another restaurant. The only reason I decided to eat here was because there was surprisingly quite a number of people in the restaurant on a Wednesday night . I was lucky to get seated right away and looking around me, I knew I was going to be in for a good treat. The staff were all so energectic and friendly. They gave good recommendations and were even nice enough to say that we ordered too much food for our group size. The food quality was amazing, very authentic tasting and the pricing is very reasonable.

I went here a few weekends ago and loved it!! I have a rule that I never go out for Japanese because it is usually too expensive, but Matsumoto is affordable, yet high quality food. I haven't had Japanese food this good since I was in Japan. It's a fun, easy going atmosphere and BYO. The staff are very friendly and very attentive. We shared the large sashimi boat between four of us and there was every type of sashimi you could imagine on there!! This is a fun thing to do with a group as it is interactive eating! I highly recommend Matsumoto, for an intimate dinner for two, a group of friends or because you have a craving for the best sushi in Melbourne!#reviewtowin

great food and lots to choose from

I am a Jpanese and I like this restaurant very much. Some of their hot food might not be the best in Melbourne but a Japanese sushi chef always delivers fresh and authentic sushi and sashimi. And very resonably priced. I do not feel to want to go to very expensive westernised Japanese restaurnts in the city because of this restaurant.

This Japanese restaraunt is always a pleaser. It caters for both Vegetarians and meat lovers alike. Food is always fab and although the veg menu isn't quite as extensive as the meat one, what you do get is so good that there is no complaining. Favourite dish is the tofu steak. Too big to eat on your own so take a friend and share. Always busy for dinner and always fresh. enjoy
