Melbourne Girls College

Melbourne Girls' College is sometimes regarded as a "private" public schoool. With a series of unpopular reforms instigated by the new Principal, Karen Money, the gloss is gradually being taken off this formerly prestigious school. The word amongst students and parents is that Principal has won very little respect, admiration or affection since she took up her position at the College last year, but has earned a great deal of bad feeling. Her methods and approach do not seem suited to meeting the needs and expectations of a sophisticated demographic.
Problems that I have enountered at the school include: a teacher joking with students about taking drugs in front of their parents at a music camp concert (he is still at the school); lack of discretion and good judgment by staff in duty-of-care matters; excessively long class times (75 minutes each) leading to boredom, ...read more
