Merrimeet Cottages
Merrimeet is a grand Tudor house, as close to authentic as building practices allow - right down to the adzed timbers, and hand-worked render. It is set in a hectare of English woodland garden behind a magnificent stone fence, huge wrought iron gates and right on the banks of the Ovens River. Behind the house is a mews building, in the same Tudor style, which has been converted into three elegant apartments - two downstairs and one very large attic style apartment upstairs. Elsewhere on the property are three recently refurbished River Cottages. Both the cottages and the apartments have all that is required for either a short break or a lengthy stay. Each has its own private entrance, a lounge with a wood fire, bedroom with queen sized bed, and bathroom with double spa bath. All Have fully equipped galley kitchens and are completely self-contained. One cottage has two very spacious bedrooms and is ideal for families or two couples sharing. All of the apartments and cottages are beautifully furnished and scrupulously presented. Merrimeet is located in one of the most picturesque garden locations in Victoria and only a few paces from the river bank. The centre of town is 7-8 minutes stroll around the river path. Although Bright is renowned for its autumn colours, it is, in fact, ideal for holidays in any season. In summer the river and the bush walks are a magnet for children and adults alike. In winter, the snow is nearby and three ski resorts are less than an hour away.
