My partner and I just ate at Mezbaan for the first time and we left very disappointed with the food. We love Indian food and have eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants as well as having traveled in India and feel that the food was definitely not authentic Indian, it actually did not taste or look Indian at all! We ordered two curries (kofta and lamb rogan josh). Both had a really strange sauce texture, as though they had added way too much cornflour to try and thicken it up or bulk it out (all transparent and gluggy). They did not have any particular taste and there was huge chunks of spring onion and capsicum and hardly any meat. The kofta balls just tasted like rolled balls of meat with no taste at all The naan bread we ordered was definitely not cooked in a tandoor oven and was really small. We would actually go as far to say that this was the worst Indian food we have ever had. The best part of the meal was the rice. On a more positive note the staff were really ...read more
We love this place. Have eaten twice in two weeks and was not dissapointed. We eat a lot of Indian, out and at home and Mezbaan is great. There seems to be bad reviews on here so perhaps they have improved recently?
Regardless, out of many Indian restaurants on the South Side, Mezbaan is up there in our opinion so please give them a go. The staff are very friendly and helpful and they do a great vege kofta! YUM!
I use to eat at Mezbaan very often at their old premises on compton rd. My husband enjoyed the food but I always felt it wasn't restaurant quality. We went there cause there were limited choices 8yrs ago. We use to enjoy their pizza, but recently tasting it, realised that you needed a microscope to find the meat filling that was already scarce before. Their naan is the smallest in the indian market and i must say their food is worse than I remember from yrs ago.
Mywife and I tried this restraunt for something different and were truely disappointed. The butter chicken tasted like chicken pieces in tinned heize tomato soup, without any doubt, and the Lamb Rogan Josh was lamb in coconut milk and grated coconut. The naan was acceptable, but small. Service was fine. This was our new worst Indian restraunt in Brisbane. I like to support small business, but I thought this was disgusting.
Paid $37 for meal that my 2 year old daughter could make better. Korma very poor, tasted burnt and that was it! wife could not eat it. Naan bread $3.50 for a the smallest (size of a slice of bread) tastless bit of naan I have had. If you are going forget the curry and naan. Could be just an off night, however and experience I would like to forget.
