If you've got kids avoid this place! These are the rules, no bikes, no scooters, not roller skates, skate boards, ball games and no fun. The playground is a mess with very dirty, outdated equipment, in a fenced enclosure. It features a single seesaw, a static wooden car, a rocking duck and a small slide/sand pit that is filthy.
My kids were blowing bubbles near our van with a couple of adjacent vans kids and the other resident near by came and told them off for laughing too much in the middle of the day. Other places we have been to over easter have offer all sorts of entertainment for the kids, not this one.
I agree with notagreynomad! When we stayed here over Easter break 2013 the permanent residents were telling the kids off for making any noise during the day (normal kid noises, laughing and playing). There was no entertainment provided for the kids and the playground was a joke. Avoid this place.
Any review more than 4 months old should be disregarded, because that is when management changed & one wouldn't wish to meet nicer people than Kylie & Wayne, the new managers. Friendly & willing to help with good humour, they run a peaceful, clean & well maintained park. Any criticisms about the ban on pets & riding of bikes, etc within the park are unwarranted as it is a council owned park & thus governed by council by-laws. Having stayed at many parks in the past 18 months, we would rank this one amongst the best & will have no hesitation in recommending it to fellow travellers as we continue our journies.
We accidentally ended up at this park, having made a phone booking in the middle of the year for xmas period at another park (Christies Beach) - they stuffed up our booking and were really rude, so we ended up at Moana. BEST thing that could have happened! Relatively new managers, Kylie and Wayne, are without doubt the friendliest managers we have come across in our travels (12 months so far), even when at their busiest over this xmas period, they try to speak with as many people as possible, checking that everything is ok. Right by a beautiful beach, near to shops, spotlessly clean - many parks are that way, and rightly so, but for us, the personal approach has made it the best stay for us, and we will recommend this park and THESE MANAGERS to anyone:)
It took them 5 days to reply to my email about a reservation. Eventually received a reply staing that they were busy. Needless to say I stayed with one of their competitors who took less than one hour to reply to me. Customer service doesn't seem to be their forte. Change the attitude or hire more staff. I have now informed my friends of their inaction.
Moana Beach Caravan Park is excellent, good management, good grass sites, clean amenities, beautiful beach (is next to South Port Beach which is cleanest in Australia!)
***AVOID AVOID AVOID***
This is not a family friendly place by any means. The "playground" they claim to have is old and falling apart not to mention the cubby hole under the slide was crawling with Red Back (Black Widow) spiders and had not been maintained in quite sometime. My 2 year old managed to push the "SAFETY" gate off it's hinges and carry the gate with him for a few steps. Not to mention the signage of the rules was not well placed. They do NOT allow bike riding, scooters, or skates of any kind so for my boys it was hard for them to have fun and the no pets rule is pathetic as what family does not travel with their furry companion. They are incredibly obnoxious and rude, and in my opinion should not be working in any kind of customer service. They treated another customer of the park terribly when they had friends come round with a dog. They also treated the people with the dog disgustingly. I will never recommend this park to anyone.
We understand that you are upset because we suggested for their own safety, that your very young children ride on the tennis court instead of the busy Park roads, where people sometimes drive too fast. You may see this situation from a different point of view had they been involved in an accident! We take our duty of care seriously and in doing so, may offend some people who choose to show disrespect to the rules of our Park. Sandi & Daryl - Park Managers.
