All I can say is that this place is awesome. You could say that it happens to be a record shop that also has a liquor license, and an area out the back where you can buy your drinks, sit down, and listen too some pretty decent tunes. The staff are pretty cool, and they also have some good beers available. Oh, it also happens to be a basement bar, and honestly, these basement bars tend to have a life of their own. This is certainly a place that I could see myself visiting regularly, even if it is only to browse the records with a beer in my hand.
Access to Mojo Record Bar is through a doorway on York St in Sydney's CBD and almost immediately you are met with what looks like an abandoned, old skool record store. There are old records all over the walls and ceilings too. Inside it is quite small but with plenty of seating including booths, bar seats and high tables in corners for small groups. We went here for an after dinner drink on a Thursday and it was really buzzing with activity. The whole place is black and red with on-theme decor including gig posters all over the walls. I actually love this little place, the vibe here is really chilled but you almost don't feel like you're in the heart of Sydney CBD at all.
