Montezuma's Mesa

Such a unique and awesome place to eat. There is no other restaurant where you can get wasted on sangria, then enjoy a huge plate of tasty mexcican!

I just noticed my last review for Monty's was in 2010, so I guess that means I've now been a regular for over 25 years.
And, although having worked my way through a few dishes on the menu now, I still can't go past the Garlic Prawn (seafood) enchilada. My daughter loves the #27 Durango (2 enchiladas - chicken & beef) and my son loves the Chilli Verde.
Some staff have also been there as long as I've been going, and it's great to see the regulars there when visiting.
Always a treat, and will keep going back.

I have reviewed Montezuma's before but really wanted to review them again and share the experience I had the other night. I rang and ordered takeaway from Burleigh- 2 seafood enchiladas with rice & beans. I was told they'd be ready in 20mins so I waited a bit then drove from Currumbin. When I arrived, they weren't ready & I waited about 6mins til my name was called. The lady apologized and told me they were a little understaffed. No probs. We drove home & I opened my container. No seafood enchilada, but a very messy chicken one with what looked like curdled cheese & sour cream through it, and no beans. At first I just thought I couldn't be bothered going all the way back, I'll just eat it, but it was awful. Over the next 20 mins, I tried phoning but could not get through. Not being a regular fan of Mexican I will admit I was skeptical of my friend's recommendation however, i was pleasantly surprised. The decor is very warm & inviting and oozes the Mexican feel. The service is friendly (not uncommon for the area) and offers efficient service. Fresh traditional dishes, plenty of sangria to go around and overall a great night out. Definitely recommend.

I love Montezuma's @ Burleigh & have lunch here with a friend at least once a month. The staff are lovely, get our drinks straight away & know our orders by heart. Seafood enchilada with beans & rice for me! It's my fave, and I can't bring myself to order anything else, even tho everything that comes out of the kitchen looks great. They are located in the Old Burleigh Theatre Arcade, but also have a takeaway section (entrance from the Gold Coast Hwy)
The bright wooden birds, guitars, sombrero's & colourful mobiles hanging from the ceiling add to the Mexican atmosphere of the place.
This is a well known restaurant that has definitely stood the test of time. I've been dining here for over 20 years. It's awesome :D
