Mr. Bulgogi Korean Restaurant
1, 32 Metro Pde
Mawson Lakes, SA, 5095
My friend had just moved to Mawson Lakes so a couple of friends and I decided that we should do a dinner catchup nearby so I decided on Mr Bulgogi as none of the girls had been there before and it was literally just down the road to walk. It took us a while to settle with what dishes we would order as everyone wanted to try everything but in the end we settled for a serve of the Korean Friend Chicken and the Chefs Special Pork Hock dish to share amongst ourselves with steamed rice. Both dishes were good to share between 2-3people each and amongst 5 of us definitely we were so full. The Korean Fried Chicken was a hit as I predicted when I chose that dish, but the Pork Hock not so much. We found that the flavors didn't quite get into the meat and the outside skin was too chewy, it would have been better if it was crispy skin. All in all we had a good catch up dinner here and we did enjoy the food.
I haven't been here in a while as I don't live in the area anymore but I went to catch up with a friend and decided we'd go here for dinner as he hadn't eaten here yet at Mr Bulgogi and I was also craving their amazing fried chicken! They had a friend chicken meal that came with rice and coleslaw so I decided to order that instead of a whole tray of fried chicken as that would be too much on my own and my friend decided to have the bibimbap. Both our picks were delicious! The only thing we didn't enjoy too much was the fried pork dumplings, that didn't have much flavor but at least the dipping sauce compensated. Maybe next time will have the dumplings steamed if they have that as an option.
Mr Bulgogi is the latest eatery to open up in Mawson Lakes, this space used to be a Vietnamese eatery but is now a Korena Restaurant, let's hope it has a good run. The Korean Fried Chicken certainly is on everyone's minds though by the sounds of it, that's all I've heard about from friends/friends of friends, and that is how I found out about this place. Came here the other night and ordered a serve of their fried chicken - $30 for a serve... you'd think that was really expensive for fried chicken, so it has to be worth it! When it came out... wow! Wasn't expecting that, such a big serving platter.. as there was so many pieces of chicken in there. Good! Certainly your monies worth and it was pretty darn tasty! Glad to have given it a try! The service on the other hand, was a little poor... not that attentive, having to wave down someone for attention and its a small space too. I would though still come back as I want to give their bibimbap a try!
