Go here if you want to be ripped off. As well as charging me an extraordinary amount for the service ($800) they unnecessarily changed the engine timing belt ($400) and the brake discs ($170)(on a car that had only done 34,000km). The car had been serviced 12 months previously and had only travelled 5,000km since.
Probably one of the better experiences at a mechanic (being female). I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off or spoken down to. These guys (James and John) were knowledgeable and excellent to deal with. I took my Nissan 200SX S15 in for a full service and for them to check the clutch which was making a noise. They were able to fix the problem and reduce cost where they could. They actually called me when they said they would, explained everything thoroughly and even gave me some helpful tips to sell my car (which I did a few weeks later.) I have been in Melbourne for a few years and have struggled to find an honest reliable mechanic. I assumed performance mechanics were the way to go with my car but these guys are the worst to deal with (especially being a female with a S15) Will definitely be returning to Kmart Tyre Auto Northcote when I buy my next car and would recommend theses guys to everyone.
Unlike other tyre services, K-Mart does have a great choice of quality brands, as well as budget tyres (a few places I had called previously had the choice of three absolute cheapies, not what I was looking for)
But initially I went to a different branch, where I had a really bad experince. So I called the feedback line (who were extremely helpful, I even got to talk to a human straight away without a phone menu) who referred me to the Northcote branch.
Upon my arrival, the staff were already aware of my situation and immediately went about rectifying the problem.
They could not have been more helpful and friendly, as well as knowledgeable about the product. I will definitely make this my regular.
All I need was a puncture in my tyre repaired. I called the day before and asked if the next day in the afternoon was ok: "yes, just call an hour before you come in". I called an hour before coming and they said it was fine. I arrived with my tyre at the time agreed only to be very rudely told that there's no way they can do it today, got too much on and need to finish on time.
Take my advice and don't take your car here for anything.
