Northcote Social Club

Really fun bar with pub food and lots of live music and good bands that tour. Located on the heart of High Street in Northcote it is frequented by the young hipsters in the area.

I'm going to have to admit that this isn't one of my favourite bars in Northcote, though it has gotten a little better since I first came here. Actually, a friend of mine quite likes the place, namely because it is one of Melbourne's more famous live music venues (though I've never made my way to any of them – I've really got to start rectifying that). I came here recently with a friend for a couple of drinks, and I have to say that it has changed for the better, and has some good options available on tap. The area out the back seems to have become a smoking area, at least later on in the night, but it's generally fairly good round the front as well. Not sure if I would make a habit of coming here though, but since I first walked in here the place has started to grow on me.

The Northcote social club is a large venue - never too packed - and so it is great for big group get togethers. Broken up into different areas, from a music section to an outdoors area, drinks and food are nice and affordable... and so it is likely to suit everyone's needs! The location is convenient too, with a tram route that runs right to it from the city.
