Thought I might have an issue with the fan or electrics on my ducted heating. Technician came within 15mins of call - excellent and within 1 minute, said it was that heating duct that had collapesed. I am very proficient at chaging/replacing ducting but sick at the moment so asked how much for them to replace that section. I heard them on the phone talking to their office and explaining that it only needed a section to be changed. After the phone call, they said the whole section needs to be replaced - it doesn't so, they over-diagnosed the problem (in an effort to charge excessively) I declined to continue. This all took less than 10 minutes. Then told me there there was a call out fee of $175 that I'd have to pay (this was reduced to $50 within about 2 mins when I refused to pay the $175). Do not use for service. Customer service is appalling. Their servicestaff is a sub-contractor who doesn't turn up and doesn't call. Upon calling to find out where they were, the staff from Northern H & C said "oh, they probably hasn't turned up because of the bad weather". That was it. No apology, no offer to chase them up. I had to push them to follow up their whereabouts. They called back to say first the service staff had car trouble, then they had babies to pick up that they were probably more worried about. When I said it wasn't good enough as I had taken time off work to meet them and why did that prevent them from having the courtesy to call or apologise (I hadn't had as much as a "sorry for the inconvenience").
