Notting Hill Hotel
Located along Ferntree Gully Road, Notting Hill Hotel has been serving patrons for over seventy years. Renowned for been run by a female publican named Kath Byer for all that time, this friendly establishment has a country vibe, with chickens running around in the beer garden and the peppercorn tree taking pride of place. Whilst you can order a range of local beers on tap, locals and visitors alike keep coming back to the Notting Hill Hotel for the friendly, personalised service. A bistro is also on site.
the food is defianetly going down hill & prices going up at this pub- fish tacos was 2 fillets of flake type fish heavily fried in batter with little avacado, sour cream and coriander with open taco bread (the processed kind). $33 1kg mussels in tomato is great but expensive for amount of meat you actually get. salad bar is going down hill too- consisted of a varity of green leaves and a sloppy coleslaw (looked like it was bought) and some potato salad.
great comedy nights each month with comedians such as Dave O Neil, Joel Creasy, etc usdually on a thursday night and pretty cheap admission prices. very frustrating that they dont tell you there are credit card charges when you purchase your meal here- they just add it to your account. cool outdoor area for kids with games such asa giant connect 4, Bocce, giant Noughts & Crosses, block building as well as board games
small/share plates include fish tacos- salmon, corn, avacado, tomato salsa, sour cream & coriander $15 or steamed pork buns $15- 5 spiced pork belly, cucumber. S & P calamari with mayo $17 entree or $27 main (a bit expensive). also have garlic bread $8 & nachos $17. s/potato wedges $13 (also expensive)
always do great bucket of 1kg mussels in watery broth which is yuim $27, haloumi burger on new menu is alos nice. shame new management and some staff (some at order meal counter and outside security) are so grumpy and unwelcoming since the take over of this place from old mangement while other old staff are the opposite.
