One of my favourite places to see a film, this cinema has old-world charm but with a modern edge. The staff are always lovely, there is a bar which is great for a drink before the show and you can take your wine/beer into the theatre with you. The snacks are a bit more thoughtful than your run-of-the-mill commercial cinema, my favourite is the little vegan ice-creams (made from coconut). Film selection is always good, more art-house and a great range so there's always something to suit. Monday nights are 'cheap night', so get there early to avoid queues. #reviewtowin

While Melbourne has its choice of cinemas, many of them stick to the main Hollywood fare, which is why Cinema Nova is such a great cinema. Okay, you do get a few of the mainstream films here, though they tend to be the more artistic, just as you will find a few of the films that are played here in the mainstream cinema, however Nova is certainly not a mainstream cinema.
I have been here a couple of times because I have recently discovered that occasionally they will show films from National Theatre Live, which is a pre-recorded stage production from England. Unfortunately, because I am not regularly checking the line up I end up missing most of them, but the ones that I have seen are nothing short of incredible. Always a good selection of films.

This is one of my favorite cinemas. The Monday night $9 tickets are the best value. A great collection of the latest art-house films. They also show foreign films as well. Brunettis has just opened downstairs so you can pop in for dessert before you go to the movies. They have cosy seats (especially cinema 13). The bar serves drinks and alcoholic beverages. Perfect way to wind down on a Monday Night.
