Very dissapointed , we have stayed at so many Novotel hotels around the world and I have to say that Novotel Canberra is by far the worst and does not live up to the 4.5 star rating. Yes it's a great location ,walking distance to restaurants and shops however the rooms are in desperate need of a make over and the level of cleanliness is really not acceptible. Our room was extremely dusty and smelt and was in need of a good vaccume. We asked to move and the second room was not any better , staines (red) on the carpet and again very dusty (on top of bedheads ,tv, ) Pillows are not full and fluffy, very flat and hard.
The selection at the breakfast buffet was ok however there were no lables , Never have I been to a buffet without lables. And to top it off our heater stopped working the night before we were leaving on a -3 degree night. I was in no mood to move rooms as we were leaving the next day. This hotel is very well located, on Northbourne Avenue - a main thoroughfare of Canberra. The bus station is right next door and the town centre only a few hundred metres away. For dining, there are several restaurants of all cuisines and prices nearby. The breakfast selection here is good and the bar area conducive to drinks with friends or conference colleagues. The rooms are fine,with a good shower and very little external noise. It's a very reliable hotel.
Fantastic hotel, excellent service from all staff, would happily stay there again. Perfect civic location for people not wanting to walk everywhere. Fantastic staff, recommend dining for breakfast. The hotel itself has one of the best indoor heated pools on offer. Friends and I had an amazing weekend in Canberra here!
