Old Kingdom

If you are in the market for some Peking duck then this is the place to go. No part of the duck goes to waste in their resturant. They will first serve you with some entree made from the same duck then duck soup then to the main dish, Peking duck. Their ducks are prepared fresh but can get a bit fattening at time. Service is great and quick.

Old Kingdom does one thing well and that's Peking duck. My wife and I love eating it and although this isn't our favourite place for it, it sure is in our top 3 for Melbourne. The duck itself is quite tasty, however whenever you order a full roast duck (~$55) they come with one or two side dishes (a soup and fried bean shroots) as well. Unfortunately, the side dishes were way too salty and didn't compliment the Peking duck too well.

Fortunate to be here again on another occasion to celebrate a birthday. Its good once in awhile to come back to favourite places that offer great and delicious food. I love peking duck and no other place makes it better than old kingdom. Between 4 of us we ordered a duck to share, i love the fatty skin and the yummy sauce that goes with it. Feeling like a greedy person i felt like i ate more than others. I dont personally like the other dishes that are made with the remaining duck, still good but not a favourite. Good thing is at least we know the whole duck purchased goes to good use and we can take away if needed to. Nothing different from what was ordered last time. Peking duck is the main deal for me and having about 6 is perfect but i reckon i can do about 10 to be fully satisfied. Love old kingdom and no doubt another session will cone about soon.

The only popular place I know for Peking duck. Have been craving for so long but haven't had the opportunity to drive out. A friend invited to join them so I couldn't resist and thought to satisfy the craving. As expected busy on a Saturday evening so good thing we had made a booking. We were seated upstairs and we had already also ordered 2 ducks for the course. Looking at other tables enjoying their duck, the skin looking so good and juicy I couldn't wait until our ducks were coming out. When it did the waiter was very quick at cutting the slices so that we could get straight into making and wrapping our own Peking duck. Yummy, I didn't want to feel like a pig but I could have gobbled 2 down easily within a few bites. The rest of our duck was stir fried into a dried crispy noodle which was ok . Old Kingdom is an old school kind of restaurant located at the vintage end of Fitzroy in Melbourne. It is a lively restaurant where crowds are of regular occurrence, with different spectrum of guests visiting this place, all enjoying what this restaurant has to offer.
