I've been eating at Rossini's on and off for years and was there on the weekend. You used to order the food at the counter and be able to see in the window what you wanted. It wasn't gourmet, but it wasn't too bad, and there was always plenty of it. When we arrived I was told they had changed hands and there was now table service. All a bit exciting I thought, so I looked through the menu (along with 3 of my friends who've also eaten there over the years) and we placed our order. My meal was lovely, but at least half the size of what I used to get. I have to admit that I don't know if I'll be rushing back.
I must say the staff were very friendly and seemed to be run off their feet, but still managed to keep a smile. It's not a bad place to go if you want a quick meal at pretty much any time of the day, but I was disappointed in the portion sizes.
If it was not for the location I would not have considered going there. Now that I have eaten there I can say the staff knew nothing about the dishes. The plates were on the table within minutes of order - explain that one? Portions were meager, not good value, I guess the food was pre-prepared. Ordered a soft drink and it was water and bubbles - they did not even know their post mix was out. I am dissapointed and wont be back. Such a shame!
If you are in Circular Quay and after a cheap meal, Rossini is a good place to go. Opposite the ferries, the cafe is set up like a bistro and you choose the food you want from the display. But it's a bit of a worry that you don't know how long the food has been sitting there for.
