Civic's 'Sammy's Kitchen Chinese' is widely known amongst locals as the best place in Canberra to get authentic home cooked Chinese and Malaysian foods at prices you wouldn't even find in Beijing.

Sammy's is a Chinese restaurant in the heart of the city that has become a Canberra icon.
The good aspects of Sammy's are the reasonable prices and the quite good quality food. The Caramelised Chicken is the pick of the dishes (I have yet to find this dish at any other local Chinese restaurant). Other common dishes, such as Beef and Black Bean and Sweet and Sour Pork, are okay without being spectacular.

Very good Restaurant in the heart of Canberra.
First, You have to wait to be seated
Then just at the beginning You get a free fresh water to drink.
I do recommend to order "sizzling mongolian beef".
One woman, who was sitting with her children next to me, suggested me to choose that dish. And it was really wonderful.
Rice is for additional fee.
