We only use Canadian Western Red Cedar to make our plantation shutters, this is one of the world's most durable woods and looks fantastic with richly textured grains. This timbre has been sourced from ethical suppliers, we only use timbre that has comes from forests that are being regenerated.

Beware-- To this day we have never received our shutters. The Sarmax shutters website is no longer available and there's no way of reaching them either by phone or email. I reported them to Fair Trading. I wish I'd known this before we paid the 50% deposit.
Have been to Dept of Fair Trading and now Consumer, Trader & Tenancy Tribunal. Other complainants against Sarmax were also there. Sarmax didn't turn up.
Contact your bank regarding their 'cashback' policy. If you can prove you paid the deposit by credit card and Sarmax did not install the shutters you may receive your money back.

What a joke! Deposit paid, last time I have spoken to Sarmax. Have not heard from them in 2 months. Completely unprofessional, unreliable.
My experience with Sarmax has been a nightmare. Nice and obliging when they came out to measure and quote. Once I paid the 50% deposit to order the shutters I never heard back from them again. They neither answer nor return my calls or emails.

Gosh I wish I had come across this forum a little bit earlier. I paid the 50% deposit to Sarmax and these people just did not do any work at all. They did not return my calls, sms or emails. I paid a rather significant amount of money to them I hope I can recover the money at the end.
DS how did you get your matter sorted out finally?
My last straw is to take legal action.
I was told in December if I paid the deposit $3100 on that day, they would assure me my shutters would be fitted by mid January. I have called, emailed and no response. I finally rang from a different number and was told the business is closed and follow up my complaint with Dept of Fair Trading.
I have had the same problem! they have held my 50% deposit and no shutters for over 6 months. no they are uncontactable.
Apparently there are other complaints. Be very careful dealing with this company. I have not heard from them for 6 months. I have had to hire another firm to install shutters.
