My relationship with Shibui also didn't work out. I gave them 4 months to sort out the colour, colour corrections, try again etc., and three times they have put a brassy gold or funny colour toner in it - just today I have decided to give up on them. Staff is great and tried to help, as did other staff and there are other lovely people there, however I would like my hair to not be brassy and gold.
Its is such a shame that my relationship with Shibui didn't work out as it came recommended. The colorist would be a good fit if you want that "I spent last summer in the sun look". They advocate a very natural look. The problem is that they do not community that during the consultation. I came in there with photos and my hair freshly done from overseas and asked "can you do this?". I was told yes. They didn't deliver. They didn't deliver when I gave them the chance to correct it. Was not impressed with their application of balayage either. My hair was brassy, not golden, probably because they didn't use a high enough developer. There was little attention during the processing and rinsing phase. All the the hair painting was rinsed at the same time and received the same toner. Not at all standard in my experience. The staff was nice to talk to so I am sorry to review them so badly.
I read the previous review prior to my appointment and had concerns yet thru word of mouth I have only heard wonderful things. Im bewildered myself by comments made as there is a sliding scale in price with cuts starting from $60-$135 giving you an option on what you wish to spend. Also I too was informed of the "natural dry finish & "blow dry loading" (again optional styling choices) If you wish to wear your hair to its natural texture it is dried that way at no charge. If you want your hair more finished lets say which I did on the day, I was charged $18 and it looked great. Overall both my cutter Rohan and colorist Julie where magnificent. My style and color are completely different (a change for the better) so it really just goes to show each to there own
Outrageously priced and barely Competent Hairdressing. Colourists who don't really listen...cutters who can't do much more than a trim..they will however cut a large hole in your wallet for the 'experience' but the best is their policy on the 'Natural Low Fuss Finish'..Ladies & Gentlemen quite simply put..they cannot blowdry hair AT ALL! If you were to stick your head out of the window of a speeding car you would get a better 'finish'. Should you request a straight blow dry they have the cheek to charge you up to $50 on top of your bill for the 'labour intensity of a 'High Fuss Finish'. They will talk over you like you were one of the many hair dummies they did obviously not practise on while you sit there looking around in bewilderment.
I am so sorry that you obviously did not enjoy your experience at shibui. I assume it was your first time to our salon and wonder why you did not provide this feedback directly to us. We call or email all first time clients who visit our salon to ensure that everything went well and if not see if we can do anything to rectify the situation. We completely understand that our brand is not as conventional as some of our competitors and not everyone appreciates our low fuss approach to hairdressing. But please be assured that this approach comes for passion for natural beauty and our procedures are based on 30 years of running a hairdressing salon in Melbourne. I would be more than happy to discuss your concerns personally if you would like to contact me via the salon email address. regards Tracey Colebrook
i was also a new customer and completely agree. The stylist who cut my hair had no idea what they were doing! I am beyond furious, my hair is now several different lengths. i took the time to email them about the service and give feedback and they have not emailed back! I asked for a trim and the staff took about 2 inches off and when staff saw in the mirror one side was longer than the other staff would just chop it off. An absolute terrible job, no wonder it only cost me $65! If i knew the finished result prior, i wouldn't have even gone if it was for free! I now have to wait and grow my hair out before i can get it cut again. I hope you they reassess their stylists.
Amazing experience. Anita for cut and Julie for colour. Everyone made me feel welcome and they really listened to what I want. I came out with great natural finish which is what I wanted - not a fake overdone look. They are crafty and clever... I will definitely go again.
