A don’t really get the hype of this place.
Located in the top level of Westfield Sydney, this Sky Phoenix is convenient in its location and is somewhat renowned for its yum-cha
I’ve had dinner here and I didn’t really get the hype. I admit it’s nice and fancy as expected for a Westfield top-level restaurant, but I found the food to be REALLY salty and service was pretty slow. We booked in a group of 30 for a company dinner and it was nice to see they seated us in a private room, but there was lots of times we were left alone and had to look for wait staff to help us.
Because we just went with the banquet menu, I had to stop eating some of the dishes and stick with rice and water to wash out the saltiness which was even all over the steamed veggies, which made me wonder if their food is actually MSG free.
Overall for what we paid per head, it wasn’t the best experience.
Went for a casual yum Cha today and the renovations are nearly complete. The place was full for a Thursday lunch and the staff were very busy. Given that the service was a little lacking today and I waited about 40 mins to get some dumplings, seems as though the trolleys were getting emptied faster than they could steam the food.
Conveniently located on the top floor of Westfield on Pitt street, this is a large Chinese restaurant that has plenty of seating. The private rooms are currently under renovation but they still offer banquet menus from $40 pp for a minimum of 6 people. We ordered pepper beef, emperors chicken, pork with Peking sauce and a hotpot.
The beef was tender and super peppery accompanied by lightly pan fried onions. The Pork with Peking sauce was delicious but very boney, not much meat which was disappointing. The hotpot was a large serving and was filled with perfectly cooked seafood such as scallops, prawns and squid. Will come here again but I wish they increased their portion sizes.
