I have nothing but praise for this business. They arranged my hire car and a taxi to the pick-up point. Every staff member I had dealings with were without a doubt friendly and professional and treated me as one of the family. Nothing was a problem for them. I suggest to those of you complaining about delays to check your insurance policy for car rental. If you haven't taken that option don't moan and groan, just rectify the situation. I will recommend this business to family and friends.
Read the reviews, and thinking only those with bad experiences take to social media with such angst. Its NRMA's preferred repairer it can't be as bad as people say!... i was wrong it was worse.
my car went in before Christmas, i know the 3 public holidays cause delays... for you know... 3 days.
it was 1 month 3 days before i got my car back after an expected time frame of 10 business days.
When they struggled to find a part, i found it in Aus, by the time i call back they had it "sorted"

Like everyone else says, dont take your car here. Your car will be ready sometime this week.... your car will be ready towards the end of the week.... your car will be ready next wednesday... your car will be ready thursday... your car might not be ready today but we will sort you a car for the weekend (friday being a public holiday) i (the manager) will call you around 2pm to sort it. no call, now closed and no car. Worst company ever wish id looked at the reviews 1st would have never gone. Give excuses like: half the guys are off sick so we are behind. Strugling to get parts. Parts are on thier way but not arrived. I cant believe nrma sent me here will be doing my best to get them to remove them from nrma's repairers list. DO NOT GO TO SOUTHPORT SMASH REPAIRS.
I am also disappointed that NRMA sent us there. How can it be that they are still an authorised repairer? I wish more than anything that I had never ever taken the car there to be destroyed and that, as a young woman, I had never had to face such rude and intimidating behaviour from the grown men working there.
in the end i got my car back took it to my mechanic for its due service they picked up on a couple of things that southport smash had missed, i took it back to southport smash and now its all sorted and im happy with the job...i suppose the main thing is...dont expect to get your car back when they say it will be done. For southport smash...maybe put more thought into how long it will take and give a best case and worst case timeline of completion it is super frustating when you make plans for transport based on you guys saying it will be done in a few days and it takes a few weeks, if i knew to start with that id be looking at a few days to a few weeks there would have been no problem.
DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE WITH YOUR CAR. After a five and a half week stuff around they returned my car and it was a shambles. I have taken the car to another repairer to fix not only the original problem but the extra problems caused by this so called 'repairer.' The paint finish on the car was so terribly done that my entire car had to be cut back to base and re-painted. Every panel of glass on my vehicle had to be changed because they hadn't wiped the car down after it was covered in metal shavings and the shaving had rusted into the glass. And they were just the superficial issues... If you want to save yourself or your family and friends a lot of time, stress and money I recommend you stay as far away from Southport Smash as possible. #reviewtowin
