What a great experience for our 5 member family! 3 kids and 2 adults happy! Booking over the phone was easy and customer service was very helpful. While booking the boat, the lady took time and gave me great tips and places to go around Tassie.
Boarding the boat is 100 times better than boarding the plane, with kids is just easier and more exciting. Our berth was great, enough room, shower, window and desk. We went overnight and all slept like babies.
Food court is very well staffed and choices are great.
We are definitely going again, thank you for making our Tassie trip so much more exciting. Wonderful service!
I catch this boat often and always overnight. Staff are friendly and the ship is comfortable but only if you have your own cabin. ATM is useless. You can only access $50.00 no more and no less. Paying by credit card is done old school with no eft machines Avaliable. While car cue is long they do the best they can and under the circumstances do a good job. The 'continental style breakfast' as they call it is rubbish. Don't bother and wait till you get off. Dinner at the canteen is typical fatty and nothing special BUT the restaurant is a different story. Really nice food. Not a big selection and a bit expensive but nice. Only problem is you can't book before boarding which means you might end up having dinner at 9pm.
All in all I will be using it again. Enjoy
easy internet booking, helpful staff at the dock, clear directions for parking your car on the boat and savvy prices for recliner seats. Very warm blanket and soft pillow provided, enjoyed watching the lights of Melbourne/Port Phillip bay fade behind us upon departure and the lights of Burnie then Davenport hint at out Tasmanian arrival. Such a relief to have the car on the island and grateful for the heavily subsidised price to ferry it there. Plenty of tourism info and fellow passengers willing to suggest areas to see. On board movies made the trip go quicker for those of us without sea legs and reassuring to see strict quarantine measures before and after arriving. It really is a must do Australian journey.
Could not be happier. Internet booking was fast & convenient. At the last minute I emailed asking if they could +1 on our travellers & they rang me back to my mobile # whilst interstate, organising this for me over the phone. Brilliant service! The welcome onboard was cheery, cabins were clean & cosy & bars/recreation areas were well appointed. Tourism onboard could not have been more accommodating! The bistro was adequate for overnight; we all found something we liked to eat. Wasn't cheap, but that was to be expected. (Tip: Eat early to avoid the queue & also to be finished in time for the 8.30 movie session! It is also enjoyable to be sitting at the dining area windows as the boat leaves.) Gift shop had the essentials, be it starting on gifts for friends, or wanting a bottle of water for overnight (etc). Such a shame the passage is so short! Fun+. Second time I've made the trip using Spirit of Tasmania and would happily do so again.
