The Bay Hotel Mordialloc

Well, maybe this is supposed to be a beachside pub, however it little more than a classy restaurant with a pool table and a beer garden out the back. The problem I found is that you have to walk through the restaurant if you want to go and sit out the back and have a beer, and the only bar is in the restaurant. The staff were pleasant enough, and I didn't mind sitting out the back with a beer and tapping away at my laptop, however it can be a little disorientating when you first walk in, especially if you're not sure whether this is just a beachfront restaurant or not. A part of me thinks that they are trying to be both, which doesn't really work in the limited space that they have available. The prices generally suit the restaurant, but it is not really a place to bring the family, having more of an intimate feel about the place (though you can bring groups). However, it is not really a place to simply come and have a drink after a day at the beach.

Never really liked this place as they never used to let me in when I was wearing shorts.

However, I have been converted since I have been getting their Chicken Parma's!! Friggin awesome!

Make sure you get the mexican one! LOVE ME A BIT OF AVO!

attended a function here in the beer garden area on a sunday lunchtime where we had some finger food such as arancini and pizzas- the pizzas were quite nice but just the usual scattering of toppings (prawns, potato, etc) so you are mainly paying for the pizza dough. your guests get a band for their wrists to purchase drinks at the bar. outdoor areas are nice, under cover if needed, lots of plants, artificial wood fire, sports TV, ramp for pram/wheelchair access"

Great private function room! Had my birthday here and everybody raved of how much fun it was!

attended a wedding here in upstairs function room but was not overly impressed. there was not a lot of food offered. downstairs bouncers came upstairs at one stage and were so rude and aggressive to a group sitting quietly in corner on couches reprimanding them as a few had their shoes off next to them on the floor (I was absolutely shocked and they were highly offended with the manner at which they were spoken to) . the room is very dark and noisy, even with a small crowd as they have done very little with soft furnishings and alike to offset the concrete, etc. acoustically the sound is not very good either, even the DJ struggled to get clear, hear-able music. it's a modern looking venue, with bar area, concrete dance floor, black curtains over all windows, plenty of seating for guest who prefer sitting at cocktail style functions. were not very helpful the next day when we rang to enquire about something that got left behind either. cocktails offered were great and ...read more
