The Grovedale Hotel

Our second Christmas lunch at the Grovedale with my elderly mother. No complaints as usual. Delicious menu, friendly accommodating staff. Thank you again June Stewart.

Ate lunch yesterday with my mother. Hadn't been there in years. The food used to be nice. But then it would alternate and be disgusting; no idea what's going on with this place. Ordered a $36 steak - for this price it should have been tender. It was horrible. Dry, small and stringy. My mother had pork and crackle. Crakle was good but pork was also tough and stringy. We will never eat here again.

Looks can be deceiving. Food is tasteless and over priced. The staff in the gaming room are rude and act all high and mighty like they own the place. I didnt go into the tab area but l cringe to think what these employers are like after my encounter with the gaming staff. This has not been my first time l have encountered this and therefore need to let others know. I rang with my concern and no one seems to care. Isnt it the motto the customer is always right. Have spoken to numerous people since this and they have said the same thing. This industry has already got a bad name of employees being disrespectful and nasty to other employees and making them leave now its time to clean up your hotel.

Two of us ate here today (18/01/13) for lunch and had 2 courses each. I had Potato and Leek soup and Nasi Goreng.

The soup was okay but needed some flavour, so I put in a liberal amount of salt and pepper to spice it up a bit. Just average

As a long time resident in Grovedale, (30 yrs), I have dined at this place many, many times. I have seen it grow from a medium sized pub and restaurant to a huge entertainment centre and restaurant. I have alway enjoyed my meals there, until recently. On the last three occasions I have dined there with family and friends, I found the meals to be slightly overpriced and not too appetising. The staff are mostly quite young and try their hardest to please which is great to see. I found that the quality of the meals is far below what I am used to from this establishment. Steaks very underdone, a fish meal I recently had was inedible being overcooked and a pepper steak salad had only four or five smaller sized pieces of undercooked steak in it! Admittedly, when I informed the staff, they were very apologetic and reduced the bill, however, the damage was done and the experience ruined.
