I was a member of this gym for a good number of years and trained regularly, knew the instructors and the place felt like 'home', I couldn't rate it highly enough, however I stopped going for about a year and was very disappointed that they would not consider wavering their joining fee for me. I relented, hoping I'd get back to feeling 'at home' there again but was very disappointed. I felt like a number, the front desk staff never smiled, said hello or goodbye, I eventually gave up trying to get a smile out of them. Very disappointing.
The customer service here is appalling, apparently even saying hello or goodbye to their customers is too much trouble, let along asking how your work out was.
I asked if I could be quickly shown how to use some the the machines properly because of the poor instructions on them, but was told that would cost me $50 for a personal training session. When I said it wasn't really safe for me or their equipment if I were to use it improperly, I was told not to use the equipment if I ...read more
I am looking for a gym close to where we live in Gulfview Heights, for my husband who is 50 yrs old and not into fitness but wants to improve his health and therefore needs a gym with staff who are helpful and eager to improve ones physical wellbeing, ..no matter one's age, and while payiong for a personal instructor they should at least demonstrate a level I will look elsewhere. Thanks for you honest and enligtening feedback. We will look elswhere,. Any suggestions would b most welcome
Firstly I like to start by saying if you were serious about your fitness, it would be good advice to see a trainer when starting out. Lets face it if your not able to make out the illustrated pictures on the machines your not likely to know everything there is to know in a quick 5 minute tutorial.
I've been a member at The Lodge Fitness Centre for 6 years, and I know what else is out there. They offer more than just weights and their group fitness classes are second to none.
If your came from a discounted Scoopons deal, you cant expect them to cover the cost of a Personal Trainer as well? At the end of the day they are a business and not a charity!
If anyone is looking at fitness centres, The Lodge is worth checking out for yourself.
I think Chloe's point is well taken.
If you don't mind throwing lots of money at your gym then The Lodge is probably pretty good for you.
If you're on a budget, and expect reasonable customer service without having the practically bribe the staff to give it you might be better off looking elsewhere.
For the record, I never expected a personal training session to be included with my scoopon, and as far as being a business and not a charity goes, if their service wasn't so crap then I would have stayed a member.
Ive been with the Lodge since I first started Gym-ing it about 6-7 yrs ago... theyve been good to me there and have looked after me very well since joining. The team is great and Ive become great friends with most of them. Theyre very helpful, and warming. The equipment and rooms are good and the personal trainers ive had there work you real hard good. The Group Fitness instructors are awesome as well! They get you going, get you really into it its great! Double Thumbs Up to The Lodge and the Lodgers:)
