The Vic Bar

This is another of those pubs that I drove past when I first arrived in Melbourne without actually realising it was a pub (and I was actively looking for a place to have a drink). In fact, I had walked up and down Victoria Street three times before I realised that it existed. That can be a good thing though because it means that there are always new places to discover where you can sit down and have a beer with a couple of friends. What initially attracted me to this place was the large open area out the front, sort of like a ground floor balcony, with the bar protruding into it. It seems that this pub was set up to give smokers a decent place to sit and drink their beer without having to cram into a cage out the back. The vic bar is a mainstay of Victoria street, openning in 2002 the vic bar has been a meeting place before and after vietnamese food and generally a really busy funky bar with its indoor outdoor frontage.
