Back again on another business trip. Given the authenticity of a family owned business i felt more certain on the level of service and quality of food from Thwaites that i was more than happy to revisit. I popped in for a quick bite before i headed to a meeting with a client and i grabbed a slice of pizza and a coffee. Thick and tasty. It was filly, almost enough for a light lunch. The coffee was as good as i remembered. Taste great, nice and hot, i had one in store and i also ordered one to go so i could stay awake in the meeting. Service is quick and the staff was friendly. I enjoy the pleasure if coming to Thwaites twice and i know it is one of those places that i will keep coming back to when i am in the area again. Compared to last experience this one just felt like i was treated like a regular.
Just on the outskirts of the main strip of Colac, Thwaites comes across as one of the long standing businesses that was established in the early 1900s. The family has kept the business and handed it down the generations. Well thats how I perceive it to be hence why I chose to walk in. Upon entering the store, you can see the layout is keep to a very simple nothing fancy setup. People kept hustling and bustling in and out of the store. Busy on a weekday morning. Quick stop for breakfast and coffee. A small salad bar situated at the back for the sandwiches but true to a bakery, a large display of everyday cakes can be seen. Behind the counter you would be able to see the selection of all the freshly baked bread for the day. Coffee here is amazing, who said only the best coffee can be found in Melbourne. I think its obvious why locals actually stop at Thwaites Bakehouse. So on this occasion, a nicely made hot coffee was enough to satisfy my morning.
