Popped into Tim Ho Wan for a snack with a friend who hadn't tried it before. We got the ever famous pork buns which are always a great choice! I think for some reason they were better in the city store. We also got pork dumplings and noodles. It's not too expensive and service is quick. No fuss, order on the menu with a pencil and not much work needed by wait staff.
The picture was so small in the takeaway menu that I thought the noodles with Pork was a bite size yum cha creation - it is after all why they are one of the few (if not only) yum cha specialists crowned a Chef’s Hat or Michelin Star (one of the two don’t quote me). Got the shock of my life when it was served to me in a massive David Jones-like shopping back and was a full blown noodle dish!
It was good, wait times were about 10 minutes from ordering, however, it was a little scarce on the Pork side of things in my opinion and was disproportionate to the amount of noodle in this dish.
I wouldn’t order this again, as I know there are much better options here.
Food was tasty, but the noodle dish my dining buddy ordered was small and nothing to write home about. Fair to say, in not an expert on this type of food, but, I do have a keen interest in Asian food and language. The buns are the signature dish, and they were superb. We drank just a bottle of water. I just find the seats and tables a bit too close to the table next door, such that I'm sure the people at the next table heard every bit of our conversation, and this close proximity means you must keep your handbag on your lap...not saying there was a robbery, but this did once happen to me in a restaurant with similar space, so I'm now just very aware of it. Worth
a visit.
We were in a bit of shock to find that the place was still packed despite the time but not enough to cause a queue which was nice. We order a plate of golden baked buns filled with BBQ Pork.
The bun had a slightly crunchy texture and the meat was well balance between sweet and savoury. I'm normally am not a fan of Pork Buns, so this was a ...read more
I visted Tim's after the intial hype. The restaurant isn't busy as it intially was. I've tried the one in Hong Kong and unfortunately this one doesn't beat the original. Known for the pork buns, they are worth getting, however I wouldn't come here again due to poor service, price and small portions.
