Mention Risotto in Melbourne and people point you to Tutto Bene so I had to find out what the fuss was about. The first time I went there, I took a friend who hates risotto hoping that Tutto Bene would make him rethink! Unfortunately, Tutto Bene didn't deliver. The risotto was soggy and very very cheesy. I went there again with yet another group of friends who has heard that Tutto Bene was the place to eat fabulous risotto. Two of them ordered the Blue Swimmer Crab Risotto and I ordered an orange and beetroot risotto. The risotto looked fantastic, the colour was so vibrant but unfortunately the taste was not the best. My friends liked the Blue Swimmer Crab risotto but didn't rave about it. The staff are always friendly, the service is sometimes a bit slow but I am not sure I would recommend Tutto Bene for risotto. I am yet to try their other specialties.
Had dinner at Tutto Bene one evening after working quite late. Service was brisk and the waiter was very informative about the specials and any questions we had about the menu. I had a Blue Swimmer Crab Risotto and it was amazingly good. My first impression was that it was a small serve, but that was an illusion and it was just the right amount. My dinner guest has Spatchcock and was very complimentary about the flavour. The meal was good, and the service efficient. Very happy.
