Famous pies? Mmmmm.....
After being recommended to go there by someone at the visitor's centre, I tried the steak & bacon pie & a latte.
I got:
a pie with the bottom section of almost completely raw pastry, all of which I discarded immediately. Hint: cooked pastry is GOLDEN BROWN & should be dryish, cooked through, just like any baked goods. And properly cooked pastry is NEVER translucent. Raw pastry has the texture of putty or dough & is pliable. I find raw pastry inedible! VERY unappealing.
This left me with only the top disc with a few skimpy millimetres of bland filling. Sheesh!
Coffee was good.
Uncle Toms has always been a familiar place with delicious pies. Now that it has been refurbished it is so good. It now has style and great coffee, music and healthy food. I love the plants and fresh produce they offer also. It is so convenient to stop for a good coffee and get served promptly and with a friendly smile.

I saw none of those things on my visit. Toilets appeared to have been shut down for a year or two - portaloo available - but the smell from the sewerage pit between the dunny & the outside seating needs to be dealt with.
My steak & bacon pie was made of mince, no steak in it, & consisted largely of raw pastry, & a skimpy bland filling
Coffee & service were good.
