Victorian Bar School

Find the Victorian Bar School because I was looking for the cheapest and fastest RSA in Melbourne; turns out it is actually a fantastic place. My instructor was excellent, passionate about what RSA actually is, not just shuffling off certificates to whoever comes in, and highly experienced. Since taking the RSA course, I have considered going back for more hospitality experience because I really believe it would be valuable and increase my ability to get a job.

Not fully knowing exactly what was in store, I rocked up to the first day of my certificate II in Hospitality course and sat down in what can only be described as a working bar. Whilst I thought 'maybe I'll be able to make cocktails and pour beers after the bar course', I now feel like I have had the full experience in working in a bar. I feel competent not only cocktail making and beer pouring but also serving customers, correct technique in all drinks making, rigging kegs, processing final transactions and working and closing the bar. This tone continued all through the barista component, after which I feel confident in being able to make the 7 most popular coffees in ten minutes to a high standard. We learnt important industry knowledge about coffee, and got to experiment with latte art. I have nearly completed two weeks of my three week bartending course at the Victorian Bar School. I have learned incredible skills such as cocktail making, coffee making, waitering, food skills and even the simple yet important skills behind the bar. Making cocktails was one of the most enjoyable things I have done in the course. This course has given me so many practical skills that I can bring to any job in hospitality and allow me to be effective in that field. I have achieved a number of certificates that are crucial to a future in hospitality, including RSA and safe food handling certificate. This course has also given me a lot of confidence. I would suggest it to any individual who wishes to follow a career in hospitality.

First off I'd like to say that this was a really fun and enjoyable course. This is the most important thing I look for when I do things and this was definitely no exception. The teachers were great, they knew all there stuff, engaged well with each other teachers and the students and made the classes challenging. I have thoroughly enjoyable my time at the Victorian Bar School and would highly recommend it to others who are keen to gain knowledge about hospitality or even just to up skill and have a bit of fun in order to gain a job.
