What a fantastic day out in Brisbane! Step into a piece of rainforest and play dodge the bush turkeys!! There are a number of walking paths you can take, a little discovery centre, café and a beautiful creek. Take a picnic and chill out after a walk or rent a kayak for 2hrs and crusie around avoiding the turtles...must do Brisbane experience for locals and tourists.
This is a great place to visit for breakfast, go for a walk or swim or function. They are in the process of landscaping a lot of the aria around the lake so that now you can swim and take boats on the lake. I had my wedding reception here and the room was beautiful amongst the trees. My sister also got married here in the outdoor amphitheater which was beautiful. Staff were wonderful helping us to organise our big days here.
We had our wedding ceremony at the lakeview area and it was a perfect spot for a relatively small wedding. Minimal decoration was required as the spot is nestled amongst rainforest trees and it was just great being in nature's beauty.
We had about 140 guests and most got to sit down and those that stood up didn't mind.
It was really easy to organise. The outdoor venue doesn't include sound system so you'll need to hire separately.
Lots of great spots for photos afterwards as there are little wooden walkways and bridges and trees and lakes.
There's also plenty of parking around the area and plenty of things to do afterwards for the guests (picnic, animal reserve etc).
This place is absolutely beautiful! The Green Tree Frog Cafe is really lovely, both food & outlook, for a morning out. My fondness is primarily for the function area down by the lakeside, however, as we had our wedding there. Simple, small and intimate, a relaxing bush backdrop, and the overseas family were thrilled to have some kangaroos hopping around in the background. I could not have asked for a better location!
I always used to bring the kids here to play with the kangaroo's and look at the platypus. Got a bit more crazy now since they opened up swimming and canoeing for parking (though I have been for a paddle twice myself). Overall beautiful setting, paddle out to the middle of the lake and not a man made thing to be seen. Wow.
