This is a very nice place to sit with friends, enjoy a good dinner, have nice service and just relax. The outside seating is right on the promenade so the view is wonderful. It's heated well, so even on a chilly winter evening it's very pleasant. Our food was well presented, nicely prepared, fresh and good quality. Service, on the whole, was great - although my companions did need to go to their third selection of red wine as both their first two were unavailable - which seemed to take a very long time to establish. I enjoyed a Cucumber Chill cocktail which was light and refreshing. Food was good. It was a lovely evening and I would come back.
I am pleased that Waterfront has finally re-opened after a period of closure due to the relocation from the Crown complex circus. The new interior is stunning and represents a big budget vision of fine seafood dining. The full experience is expensive - although an ideal venue to celebrate or impress. Staff were knowledgeable, timely and fun to talk to.
Located on the Yarra River outside Crown Casino, this place already builds high expectations. And the food did not disappoint it was absolutely fantastic. For the entre I had the scallops and duck, and the serving size was quite generous. This was followed by the whole baby snapper which was hard work, and finished with the chocolate Fondant was the highlight of the night.
Regarding cost, the food is a little bit pricey, although as a business dinner, this wasnt a concern for us. The service was okay, but it was nothing special, and I would have expected a bit more considering how much we pay for the food.
Overall, a great dining experience, and recommended for those looking for a great seafood feed.
We recently ate here late on a warm Saturday for lunch. The matrie'd was delightful, very friendly but I'm pretty confident the waiter couldn't care less. He gave us the menus, then immediately asked what we wanted. I sent him away after asking for a couple of minutes, so he sulked off in a huff. He brought to the table red wine and nearly poured it after we'd ordered white, then went on to blame the barman as he'd clearly got it wrong even though the wine was clearly a red wine that he'd carried from the other end of the restaurant. The food was good, the fish and chips excellent and the calamari tender. For the price I expect better service, it seemed to me like they have a very relaxed attitude to service here, which borders on careless. This place could be outstanding, but the service is the real weak point here.
Service was beyond beleivable, the maitre` d really looked after us, even carrying my handbag and jacket to our table for me!
Food was pricey but very much worth it and worth the nearly 1 hour wait to get a seat. My partner had a lobster risotto which had an amazing array of flavours and good sized pieces of lovely fresh lobster. I had a seafood chowder which was thick, creamy and embodied a delicious mix of fresh fish, scallops and mussels and was served with crusty bread.
Very pricey with nothing on the menu under $50 but the food and service was so fantastic I definately see myself and my partner coming back again soon!
