White Dwarf Books
This is another bookshop that I stumbled across, though unlike the other one I visited in Perth, this one is a specialist science-fantasy bookshop. Like many bookshops, these independent retailers are a dying breed, as as for the speciality, I suspect that there aren't any other places like this in Australia (I can't think of one in Sydney, or in Melbourne for that matter). The collection is huge, and he pretty much knows where is books are. I even managed to get my hands on a Star Wars book that I had discovered a couple of days earlier that I decided that I wanted to read. Certainly worth checking out, especially if you are a science-fantasy buff.
It's true they have an amazing collection of fantasy books there, but expect to pay a premium. Your average size forgotten realms books are $22.95! No that isn't for a hard back. I asked for a discount and I was told a distainful "No. Why would we do that?" I appreciate they "need" to have a bit high prices, next time just be a bit nicer about it. Sorry for my rant I just wasn't impressed.
Speculative fiction bookshop, one of the best in Perth alongside Fantastic Planet in Shafto Lane. They also carry some roleplaying stuff. There's a table to sit around and talk books/browse which is cool, shame they can't fit in an espresso machine too ;) Prices are the same as anywhere else in WA. Good place to go to entertain yourself if some of your friends get trapped in the Warhammer store for an hour choosing which shade of paint to buy :P
