This restaurant was a fantastic location for a farewell lunch from Sydney. With beautiful views of Sydney harbour, the bridge & Opera house, it is a relaxing atmosphere. Service was friendly but a little slow at times but understandable given it was a group which can be hard to coordinate. The platter with a bit of everything was a great way to start & perfect with a drink in hand. It had cold cuts, olives, arancini, meatballs & my favourites on the board being the crispy salt & pepper prawns & calamari. We all ordered our own mains & my steak was cooked as requested & flavoursome with a nice char but was a little tough. Feedback on the fish was positive & also the pasta looked generous & apparently delicious. The chips were fat & crunchy & delicious. Desserts consisted of sticky date pudding which was nice & rich, pannacotta which is nice but a bit too sweet for my liking and the chocolate & salted caramel tart which was delicious. Overall a very ...read more
I came here for a recent birthday function, a friend hired the room, so I'm unable to comment on price , but I can say the location is to die for , something quite magical about the Rocks area, lots of thought has gone in to making it pleasant. The food I had was lovely, famous steaks are the go of you done a la carte. The wait staff in our room were courteous.
I can only recommend the steaks (can't go wrong with any!) as that is all I have ever had there, it is that good! That said it is a pricy restaurant; paying for the view and location as well. However, while there was nothing wrong with the service, there was nothing special either. I would have expected them to give a little more given the upscale restaurant it is suppose to be. Example, while there once two customers asked for take away after massive expensive seafood platters and they said no we don't do that with no reason provided at all or in any regretful tone. If a "cheaper" restaurant can provide that service I don't see why they can't when their customers have spend 100-200 on their meals. And whatever the excuse is for not providing this service is bull because I have been to similar calibre restaurants elsewhere that have provided me with my seafood in takeaway. Why promote waste like that?! Just a note of warning ahead of time for those who thinking ...read more
I would love to be able to give this place a better rating because the food was quite good. Super fresh fish (we went on fish special night) and delicious sides, but our wait staff was oddly rude. Staff kept blurting out 'Thank you!' somewhat aggressively as staff set things down in front of us before we even had a chance to say it ourselves (which we ALWAYS do!) Staff just seemed annoyed at our very presence. My mum's salmon portion was enormous, and when she politely asked for a box, the wait staff dramatically pronounced, 'We don't DO takeaway here, madam.' Serve reasonable portions and people won't feel the need to ask for takeaway. It felt like such a waste of money and great food.
Beautiful location, nice deserts but thats it. My entree came out $27 for 6 pieces of finely sliced duck about the size of 20cent coins which was a bit disappointing. We told our wait staff that there could have been a bit more of it with that they returned with the comment its more quality not quantity, then collected my partners empty drink whilst saying i suppose there could have been more of that as well? For the price we paid for our meal this was a truly disappointing experience. Over priced and over rated!
