I enjoyed dinner here recently. They have very nice food - my companion and I had drinks, but also enjoyed their entre servings of Chargrilled Calamari and a generous serving of Steamed Mussels. During our meal I confirmed my developing view that they have fabulous service. Why? I actually managed to drop an entire tumbler of sparkling water onto our table (and yes ... into my dinner). While I valiantly did my best to mop up, my companion asked the server for another napkin and when he came over and saw what had happened, he immediately took my flooded dinner away and appeared within 5 mins with a totally new one! How marvellous. The location is easy - right on the corner of Flinders Lane and Russell Street. Delicious Margarita's baby!!! Ariba, ariba ... It's been a while since I visited yak, and wow how impressive. Their new decor looks great and both mine and my husbands meals were Devine. Strongly recommend sharing some starters, I couldn't get enough of the croquettes. The gnocchi was the best I've had. Such friendly, attentive staff. Booking christmas lunch with girls, Cant wait to go back.
Had dinner here on a Wednesday night before going to the theatre. We were a little pressed for time but the waiter assured us that if we stuck to the pastas then we would be fine, and so we ordered straight away - my partner ordered the gnocchi of the day which was served with a braised meat sauce of beef, lamb and rabbit, and I had the lemon and potato agnolotti with a pecorino & sage butter sauce dotted with saffron. I sampled my partner's gnocchi and it was really lovely - quite meaty but delicious. My agnolotti was beautiful - really delicate flavours that were combined so well, but the serving was just not quite enough to fill me up, even with the bread and oil we had before the mains were served. Unfortunately we did not have enough time for dessert, otherwise we would have ordered the Italian doughnuts with pistachio ice cream and orange sauce. I was a bit worried about the service when we first arrived, as we were just standing there for a few minutes ...read more
