I was taken here for my birthday dinner and it was nothing short of mouth watering. I am obsessed with Japanese food and this is some of the best I've had. Their degustation gives you a taste of everything they have to offer and is all beautifully presented. The sashimi course had to be one of my favourites, the freshest I've had in Sydney. If you love Japanese food and sake then go here. It may be pricey but it's worth every penny
My boyfriend took me here for my surprise birthday dinner. We are obsessed with Japanese food and have been conquering all the Japanese restaurants around Sydney. Yoshii is super authentic in terms of the vibe they create in the restaurant, with a twist of fusion in the menu which was beautifully meshed in. We ordered the Yoshii Course which consisted of 8 course ($140 each) and they were exceptionally amazing. We were the only ones at the bar counter so we had the priviledge to see Yoshii in action and to have a chat with him towards the end of our dinner, lovely guy! If you have cash to splash or to treat yourself with guaranteed good food, Yoshii is the place to be.
As a surprise date night, I was taken to Yoshii and treated to the degustation menu.
From the appetiser to the dessert, I was impressed with the quality and presentation of each dish. Have a look at the photos! The food is traditional Japanese and I appreciated its simplicity (although Im sure it was not simple to make). A choice was given for the main wagyu or black cod. The black cod (Boyfriends choice) was definitely the winner. I loved the tempura chocolate, which was perfectly accompanied by the rhubarb and brandy flavored ice cream.
The restaurant is somewhat unassuming in appearance. We had a lovely Japanese waitress. Unfortunately, she often introduced the dishes too quickly and softly. The interval between dishes was perfect, i.e. no long awkward breaks.
Overall, it was an evening of beautiful Japanese food. I highly recommend it for a special occasion.
Superbly fresh and masterfully prepared sushi, and the degustation is innovative. The cedar smoked rudder fish is a standout and they were happy to substitute a course to make sure it could be fitted in. Sitting at the sushi bar, it's a joy to watch Yoshii san at work. Lovely, intimate restaurant, I think it seats 40-50 max. Been several times, but after some attitude from the maitre'd last time, the experience has been ruined somewhat.
