The equipment used in Japanese acupuncture is well-refined with most patients experiencing virtually pain-free treatments. Japanese acupuncture complements Western medicine and in some cases, where a patient has symptoms that dont fit with a medical diagnosis, Japanese acupuncture can offer significant relief. Acupuncture turned Ilans life around. At the age of 28, when backpacking around South East Asia, Ilan contracted a near-lethal combination of dengue fever and hepatitis A. Ilan went for his first acupuncture treatment and for the first time since he fell ill, he felt alive. This fuelled a fascination and passion for Eastern medicine and it led to lengthy studies and intensive practical training. Once he completed a Bachelor of Health Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine at UTS, Ilan travelled to China to attain a Diploma of Internal Medicine, Acupuncture & Massage from the Japan-China Friendship Hospital, Beijing, then he went to live in Japan and work with a highly regarded acupuncturist in a traditional five year mentorship.
