Shiatsu is a therapy that helps the body to heal itself.
While lying on a futon on the floor, gentle stretches and the pressure of thumbs, palms, elbows and feet are used to help maintain good health and balance energy from within.
This energy is called Qi and circulates in the body along channels also known as meridians. When we are under stress, Qi blockages occur and can cause physiological, emotional discomfort or pain.
During a Shiatsu treatment acupoints along the meridians are stimulated through touch to benefit the organs and the circulation of Qi, resulting in an unobstructed flow of energy.

To help your healing process, your Shiatsu Practitioner may apply one of the following techniques during a treatment:
-Cupping: Glass cups are applied to the body to draw out pathogens and to help Qi and blood move freely
-Guasha: A chinese spoon is used to scrape the skin to stimulate Qi and blood movement or clear pthogens
-Moxibustion: The herb mugwort is burned close to or on the skin to warm and nourish Qi, de-obstruct meridians and promote smooth flow of Qi and blood.
