A life-long fascination of the human body led to the pursuit of both nursing (2003) and nutritional medicine (2007) as passionate career paths. I studied at a naturopathic college which developed my personal philosophy of nurturing health in a holistic manner - through emotional support, dietary and lifestyle review, diagnostic evaluation, and appropriate intervention, good health and vitality can not only be achieved but sustained. My role in this profession is to help you identify areas of weakness through case taking and physical assessments (blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, nail/tongue/iris analysis) and guide you to facilitate your own healing.
Nutritionists guide the individual to effectively manage their own health through a number of preventative strategies, including dietary and lifestyle measures, and supplementation. This empowers the individual to direct their health status towards a space of longevity and strength as opposed to stress and disease. Dietary advice focuses on preventing disease states and exacerbations of existing conditions whilst supplementation promotes integrity of the bodily tissues, reducing the incidence of chronic disease, preventing an acute episode from developing into a chronic condition.
Some of the more common areas that can be addressed include: acne, allergies, anxiety, arthritic conditions, autoimmunity, cardiovascular health, depression, dermatitis, diabetes, digestive complaints, eczema, fatigue, gout, headache, infertility, insomnia, metabolism and weight loss, pregnancy care, psoriasis, senility support and healthy aging, stress management, stroke prevention and recovery, thyroid conditions - to name a few.
