What is Bowen Therapy?
Bowen therapy is a cross-fibre rolling and stretching manipulation technique that works on the soft connective tissue (fascia) of the body. Fascia is a specialized web-like connective tissue that envelops, separates and influences every organ and tissue in the body, if damaged it can affect every structure within the body.
Benefits: Bowen Therapy may assist with the following conditions:
? Neck and shoulder pain
? Any back pain and sciatica
? RSI and elbow pain (Tennis & Golfers)
? Hip, knee and ankle sprains
? Hamstring strains and tears
? Arthritis and hay fever
? Lymphatic drainage
? Sporting and other trauma injuries
? As well as many other conditions
How the Bowen technique is applied?
Smart Bowen Therapy is suitable for all age groups and administered through light clothing.
This is done using varying pressure and building in time delays between moves to allow the body time to respond and realign. This aids the body?s healing process, leading to improved circulation, joint mobility, nerve stimulation and functionality, lymphatic drainage and relief from pain and discomfort.
What to expect during a Bowen treatment?
1. Pre-treatment: A short initial interview will occur prior to treatment commencing.
2. Treatment: Is applied to client lying on a massage table, directly onto the skin or through loose clothing, usually takes about 45-60 minutes.
3. Post-treatment: You will be given recommendations for post treatment rehydration, plus exercises or activities to aid your recovery process.
4. Recovery: whilst pain relief and results can normally be seen or felt immediately after treatment, it may take up to one week for the body to fully adjust to the treatment.
