Puddle Jumpers Inc (PJs) is a non profit NGO, committed to responding to the social development needs of society's most vulnerable children and young people. PJs provides opportunities and support for children and families at risk, through holidays and recreational activities designed to promote personal, social and cultural growth and development. Programs are designed to empower young people to develop social, communication, co-operation, team building, conflict management and problem solving skills; as well as developing self-esteem and confidence. In summation, equipping young people with the confidence and skills to assume more control and make informed choices in their everyday lives.
We use group dynamics as a demonstrated effective and appropriate intervention strategy in bringing about changes in young peoples understandings and behaviours. We provide the lived experience of social peer group interactions, within a fun and challenging recreational setting, to develop cognitive relationship skills. We provide positive role model mentor relationships with young adult volunteers to facilitate the development within a young person of a positive self-image and a belief in the young persons capacity to conduct and maintain mutually beneficial relationships.
We do this through recreational and educational residential camps for kids, providing volunteer positive mentors for kids on camps / activities / events.
We also provide volunteers (especially young adults) with the opportunity to volunteer and gain experience in the human services sector
Puddle Jumpers Inc works from a strengths based approach; enhancing and building on existing strengths and capacities
